These peanut butter balls are full of protein and healthy fats while also slightly sweet. Coated in homemade chocolate sauce they are almost addicting and sure to disappear quickly! I love having these on hand for a quick pick-me-up in the afternoon. They are also great for special occasions, snack bars, or as a dessert for young children.

Both the peanut butter base and chocolate coating are sweetened with honey only. They are also gluten free and dairy free so they are wonderful for those with food sensitivities!

How to store dark chocolate covered peanut butter balls:

These can be stored either in the fridge or freezer. I prefer the freezer as they keep longer and thaw very quickly when taken out and placed at room temperature for a few minutes. Or just eat them frozen! The peanut butter base doesn’t ever get completely frozen solid so if you need a cold snack on a hot day these are perfect!

Ingredients for dark chocolate peanut butter balls:

coconut flout, coconut oil, peanut butter, honey, and cocoa powder on a table

For the peanut butter base:

  • Natural peanut butter (3/4 cup) – you can use creamy or crunchy depending on what texture you like
  • Honey (1/4 cup) – if it is crystalized place in a small saucepan on very low heat until runny and smooth
  • Coconut flour (2/3 cup) – to thicken and bulk up the peanut butter base

For the chocolate coating:

  • Cocoa powder (1/4 cup) – dark or regular
  • Coconut oil (3 Tbs.) – melted refined or extra virgin. If using extra virgin coconut oil the chocolate coating will have a slight coconut flavor which is also delicious!
  • Honey (3 Tbs.) – melted on low heat

Instructions:
