You can make any space cozy and inviting no matter how small, large, or seemingly unpractical it may be. I love the challenge of making places that are not ideal wonderful little havens, nooks, welcoming and cozy places. Even just having things organized and every object having a place makes a huge difference in how stressed or peaceful a home can feel.
Here are a few tips on making your home feel cozy and inviting. These are simple ideas that don’t cost much or you may already have them laying around and they just need to be put to good use!
Everything has a place:
Try to have everything that comes into your home have a place. If it doesn’t have a place it gets thrown here and there and can just be plain annoying and overwhelming. This may take a while but focus on a little bit each day. Go through your home and put things in their place. If they don’t have one or you don’t use the item, it may have to go.
Don’t let things pile up:
Whether it be dishes, laundry, or cleaning, try not to put things off. If it needs to be done, do it! Spend 15 minutes focused on one thing at a time. Do it without any distractions! It’s amazing how much you can get done in a few minutes of undistracted time! Keeping things at least somewhat clean helps the home be a more relaxed place as you don’t have constant thoughts of everything that needs to be done.

Candles:
This is by far one of my favorites! Light a candle at any time of day and it brings a warmth and coziness to your home. I love beeswax candles as they burn nicely, are healthier, and don’t have synthetic fragrances for those with sensitivities.
Make the bed:
This may seem like a such a small thing that wouldn’t make that much difference but it totally does! I notice a clear difference in the the way my home feels when the bed is made vs when it isn’t. It only takes a couple minutes and your home will instantly feel more put together when you do it.
String lights:
These make any area feel cozy and are great for any space that needs a bit more light but has no good place to put one! String lights can be strung at the ceiling or placed on top of cabinets for a cozy and peaceful atmosphere. Get some that are a warm white or any warmer color.

Lamps:
Having light that is more toned down and not so intense can affect the atmosphere of your home so much. This is especially true in the evening when things start to wind down for the night. Try using more lamps vs overhead lights as much as you can.
Quilts:
I love quilts! Quilts on beds, couches, chairs, in baskets, or even displayed are all good ways to use them! Keep your eye out at thrift stores as you can find some amazing quilts that are in very good condition without having to spend a fortune on them. They are very nostalgic for many people and make a space feel welcoming and comfortable.
Flowers:
Flowers are wonderful any time of year, but especially in the spring and summer when its starting to warm up and everything is fresh. If you are able, grow some of your own to harvest and put in thrifted vases or dry them to hang in your kitchen. They smell so good and cheer up any space very easily.

Curtains:
Hanging curtains on your windows instead of just using blinds add character and personality to a room very easily. Try to thrift some or try your hand at making some yourself! It is a very easy project even if you’re a beginner to sewing. If your budget is extremely tight, thrift some sheets and use those as your fabric! You can find some very beautiful used sheets that are still in excellent condition if you don’t mind searching a little!
Music:
Having relaxing music playing in the back round is a very easy way to provide a peaceful atmosphere in your home. Instrumental hymns or worship music are great or any other instrumental music that you prefer. Keep it toned down and not too loud. There are many talented piano artists that have their music on many of the main platforms. Search around a little and you may find some you really enjoy listening to.
