Protein Guacamole Dip
Protein guacamole dip is so delicious and a great way to get in more protein easily. Full of good fats and fresh veggies and herbs, this guacamole makes a great addition to a meal or just eaten as a snack.

I love avocados! Not only do they taste delicious but are full of good healthy fats and are nutrient powerhouses. I try to always keep them on hand to make this guacamole or just to eat plain with a little salt. I often whip this up as a quick afternoon snack for me and my daughter to get us through till dinnertime.
This protein guacamole is wonderful served as a dip with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos or burrito bowls. The cottage cheese makes the avocados go farther which is great if you’re making this for a crowd.
Why You’ll Love this Recipe
Easy – this is so easy and fast to make! Just 5 minutes and it’s ready!
Healthy – full of good healthy fats, fresh veggies, and cottage cheese for protein. You can serve this with confidence knowing that it’s only doing your body good.
Simple Ingredients – basic ingredients and no weird stuff. Just cottage cheese, fresh vegetables, and salt!
Ingredients

Avocados – use fresh, ripe avocados. You can also use frozen diced avocados that are sold in the freezer section if you don’t have fresh.
Cottage cheese – this adds protein and also helps the avocados to go farther, which is great if you’re serving this for a crowd.
Tomatoes – I love using cherry tomatoes as they are more firm and also we have an abundance of them fresh from the garden in the summer. You can also use roma tomatoes or any larger tomato that is firm and not squishy. This is so that the guacamole doesn’t end up super juicy.
Red onion – adds flavor, color, and a little spice.
Cilantro – I love using fresh herbs in my cooking whenever I can! They add so much to any dish.
Lime juice – fresh is best but you can also use lime juice from a bottle.
Salt – I like using pink himalayan salt.
Garlic powder – just a touch is all you need to bring all the flavors together.

How to Make Protein Guacamole Dip

Tips
I love my guacamole to have some texture to it which is why I just mix it up with a fork in a bowl. However if you prefer a smoother textured dip, or don’t want the appearance of the cottage cheese to be seen, blend the avocado, cottage cheese, and lime juice in a high speed blender then place into a bowl before adding the fresh veggies and spices.
If you don’t have fresh tomatoes, onion, and cilantro on hand or if you need a quick snack with even a shorter prep time, simply substitute the fresh vegetables for 1/3 cup of salsa. I often do this and it tastes delicious!

Recipe FAQs
For perfect ripeness an avocado should be slightly soft when squeezed but not squishy at all.
While guacamole is best eaten fresh you can keep it in the fridge for a couple of days by reserving and using your avocado pits! Smooth out the top of the dip, place the avocado pit on top and press it about halfway into the dip. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap making sure that you press it down so it is touching the whole surface of the dip. This will prevent it from turning brown as quickly. Place in the fridge and it will stay fresh for a day or two. If any browning develops on the surface use a spoon to scrape it off and discard the brown portion. If it still smells okay the rest should be fine.
If your avocados are hard leave them out at room temperature for a day or two and they will ripen. If they are ripe already and you are needing to keep them longer, place them in the fridge and the ripening process will slow down significantly.
Yes it is! Not only are avocados packed full of healthy fats, this guacamole has only very simple, basic ingredients that are nutritious and good for you.

Protein Guacamole Dip
Protein guacamole dip is so delicious and a great way to get in more protein easily. Full of good fats, simple protein, and fresh veggies and herbs, this guacamole makes a great addition to a meal or just eaten as a snack.
Ingredients
- 1 avocado
- 1/4 cup cottage cheese
- 1/4 cup tomato - diced small
- 2 Tbs. red onion - chopped
- 1 tsp. lime juice
- 1/8-1/4 tsp salt - to taste
- 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
Instructions
1. Using a sharp pairing knife slice the avocado in half lengthwise and twist both halves opposite directions to separate the halves. Remove the pit and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash with a fork. If you like a more textured dip leave some chunks.
2. Add the cottage cheese and mix well to combine, mashing the curds with the fork the best you can. If you want a smooth, more uniform dip, put the avocados and cottage cheese in a blender and blend until uniformly smooth (see note).
3. Slice the cherry tomatoes in quarters (or dice small if using a large tomato) and add to the bowl. Dice the red onion small and add to the bowl as well. Stir to combine.
4. Add the chopped cilantro, salt, garlic powder, and lime juice. Stir until completely combined. Adjust salt to taste.
5. Serve with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, enchiladas, burrito bowls, or taco salad.
