I love chocolate. I love coffee. The two together are SO good! They pair together beautifully and compliment each other so well.
During the summer months, iced lattes are a regular daily occurrence in our house. They are easy to make, always taste so good, and are a fraction of the price of going out to a coffee shop. I love being able to make and enjoy such delicious beverages right in the comfort of my own kitchen with my own ingredients.
This chocolate cold foam can be the final touch on any iced latte or cold brew coffee. I usually sweeten my iced lattes with maple syrup or homemade coffee syrup, but you can get creative with pairing it with different flavors as well. Think strawberry, caramel, brown sugar, or cinnamon. They are all delicious!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Quick and Easy – this cold foam whips up in less than 5 minutes!
Simple Ingredients – only uses simple ingredients that you most likely already have in your pantry
No refined sugar – chocolate cold foam is sweetened only with pure maple syrup
Ingredients

Milk – whole milk works best. You can also use raw milk.
Heavy cream – gives the cold foam a thicker silky texture. It also helps the cold foam to hold its shape better and not melt into the coffee. You can use cream that has been freshly skimmed or heavy whipping cream.
Maple syrup – use pure maple syrup. You can also substitute with homemade coffee syrup.
Cocoa powder – regular or dark
Vanilla extract – pure vanilla extract or homemade!
Salt (optional) – just a tiny pinch of salt brings all the flavors of this together really nicely.

How to Make Chocolate Cold Foam

Step 1: Pour the milk (2 Tbs) and heavy cream (2 Tbs) into a small jar or narrow cup.
Step 2: Add the maple syrup (1 Tbs), vanilla (1/8 tsp), cocoa powder (2 tsp), and tiny pinch of salt if using.

Step 3: Using a handheld milk frother whip the mixture until the ingredients are fully combined. Continue frothing until it thickens and has a smooth, creamy texture. This takes about 20-30 seconds. Serve and enjoy!
How to Serve
This chocolate cold foam is best served fresh! Make your iced latte or cold brew coffee then pour the cold foam on top. Garnish with chocolate curls or a dusting of cocoa powder if desired.

For an iced latte:
When making an iced latte, fill a pint jar or tall glass with ice. Pour in 5-8 oz. of milk (depending on how strong of a coffee flavor you like), pour your freshly brewed espresso in on top of the milk then top it with the cold foam.
If using cold brew coffee or pre-brewed coffee in a french press:
If you are using cold brew coffee, fill a jar about halfway with ice. Fill the jar about three quarters full with coffee, making sure to leave some room for the cold foam, and sweeten to your likeness. Add a splash of cream or half and half if desired, then top with the chocolate cold foam.
You can also make coffee in a french press or regular drip coffee machine for this latte. Cool it completely before using then follow the instructions above.

Recipe FAQs
Cold foam has lower fat content than whipped cream but the ingredients are very similar otherwise. Depending on the sweetener you use, will determine if it is “healthy” or not.
To get cold foam that is perfectly smooth and creamy yet not thick, is 1:1 ratio of milk and heavy cream.
Cold foam works best when made with both milk and heavy cream. If you use only milk it won’t hold its shape and will deflate and dissolve into the coffee much faster.
